I just want to be there. I want you here. Anywhere, with you. I just want to lay next to you like we did. I’ll write notes into your skin even though you already know what I’m going to say. I want to hold your hand and tell you it’s okay. You squeezing back to tell me you’re alright. When you run your hands down my arm and I push back. You always laugh at me. And your whole body shakes and makes me laugh too. I want to catch you staring back through the darkness when only the street light outside outlines your face. Even that’s too much light for them. They’re mad and we don’t care. Because we’re awake at night. Sun goes down, we come up. I want to wake up together, somehow we both wake up at the same time. I want to listen to your heart while I fall asleep, because you always fall asleep before me. I want to breathe next to you until your smell sinks into my hair and my skin and my bones. So I can save it for when I need you here. I don’t think when you’re by my side. I just am. I float because I don’t have to swim. I’m alright and you’re alright. I fall asleep quicker than I ever wanted. The more sleep I get takes away from my time with you. But I’d never wake up if every night was like this. I know no one else understands. I don’t care. It doesn’t matter. I’m you and you’re me and we’re all we’d ever need.
